Do you live in or near Park Slope, Brooklyn?
iTRAVEL asked:
I want to stay at a Bed&Breakfast in Park Slope, located on 12th Street between 4th and 5th Avenue. Is this a safer neighborhood? I know New York is as safe as any other city; I’m just asking so I can make choices.

It’s pretty safe- there’s not a lot of traffic in that part of the neighborhood, which can be both a good thing and a bad thing.
4th Ave. is mainly a commercial street (lots of auto parts stores, warehouses, etc.) while 5th Ave. (especially above 9th St.) is known for its bars & restaurants. The nearest subway is the 4th Ave. (9th St.) F Train (the N & R also stop there). That subway stop (it’s actually an elevated train station) may well be the ugliest looking subway stop in all the city.
Hence, you’ll probably want to spend most of your time along 5th Ave. and only go to 4th if you need to go into the city (or into Bay Ridge.)
It’s a very desirable neighborhood, and yet far enough from the touristy parts of Manhattan that you are likely to get a good deal. Go for it.
