    I just did a random search on and they not only check hotels but also check hostels there in NYC

    I use this website alot when I am booking my travel plans for business

    Many people are surprized by this, but there are actually dozens of hostels in NYC (right in Manhattan) for less than 30 dollars a night. I like the chealsea Star hostel and the Gerswin hotel/hostel. The best place to get info is Twizi.com (they list and map places to stay for less than 25 dollars. Also try the New York hostels guide. Links to these sites is below. New York City is surprizingly economical to those who take the time to research hostels there.
